Set in the scenic Boyne Valley near the historic Hill of Tara, this immersive bread-making experience is led by Chris—a passionate baker with deep roots in sustainable food and agronomy. Guests of all levels are guided through the art of sourdough while exploring the powerful connection between soil, grain, and gut health.

Under Chris’s expert guidance, guests will learn The Basics of Sourdough—how to make the simplest, most nourishing form of bread from just flour, water, salt, and time.

 

Discover what a sourdough starter is, how to keep it alive, and why fermentation and wholegrains are so beneficial. You'll explore the links between gut health, probiotics, and blood sugar balance, and why avoiding ultra-processed foods really matters.

 

Get stuck into mixing, shaping, and proving your own dough. You’ll refresh a starter, and craft your own butter and pickles to enjoy with your bread. While it bakes, sit down to a seasonal, plant-based lunch made with local produce—finished with a selection of delicious Irish cheeses.

Roll up your sleeves and discover the art of traditional Irish breads.

In this hands-on session, you’ll craft your own loaf using heritage grains and local ingredients, guided step-by-step in the cosy studio kitchen. Whether you’re a first-time baker or an enthusiastic foodie, you’ll gain new skills, confidence, and a fresh-baked loaf to take home.

Plant based lunch is an optional extra.

Begin with a live baking demonstration, using locally sourced ingredients. Then, settle in around our long table for a beautifully prepared, seasonal three-course meal crafted with care and designed for sharing. It’s more than dinner—it’s connection, conversation, and the simple joy of good food enjoyed together.
